Join us for a day of biking along the bay-front, marina, farmland and wineries of Southern Maryland, all while enjoying the company of friends who share your same passion for biking. This is a fully supported event with routes ranging from 16 miles to a metric century, including our 16 mile New Rider route.

We’re so excited to have you participate in this year’s Bike Ride! To begin, follow the steps below on registering online or with our paper registration form.

Registration Prices

Early Bird: $39 before March 1
Registration: $49 during the month of March
Late Registration: $59 during the month of April

Online Registration is closed, but Same Day Registration is available on Saturday, April 28. See  you then!

Join us for a day of biking along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Pedal along the bay-front, marina, farmland and wineries while you enjoy the company of friends who share your same passion for biking. This is a fully supported event with routes ranging from 16 miles to a metric century. Whether you are a seasoned rider or just getting started, we have a route for everyone!

Be sure to join us for the Post-Ride Party where we will celebrate a great ride with free food, live music, and community!

End Hunger In Calvert County is a (501)(c)(3) non-profit organization. All proceeds and donations stay right here in Calvert, helping to care for our most needy residents.

Routes

New Rider 16 mile • 16 mile • 35 mile • 48 mile • 63 Metric Century

For the New Rider 16 mile, there will be an orientation at 10:00AM on road rules and safety, and your bikes will be checked for safe road use. A ride leader will guide the group through the 16 mile ride.

NOTE: Riders taking the 16 mile route are advised to start after 9:30AM to best take advantage of the Winery Open House and Post-Ride Picnic. All other routes we suggest you start your ride between 7:00AM and 9:00AM.

When you arrive, please park and check-in/register in the Children’s Ministry Wing Lobby of Chesapeake Church to receive your ride information. There will be plenty of signage to get you to the right place. You can begin the ride whenever you would like, but route services end at 3:00PM so you should plan to complete your ride by then. If you purchased merchandise online, it can be picked up at any time at Merchandise.

NOTE: Parking at this event is limited, so please consider carpooling whenever possible.

Event Details

All participants receive a free bike t-shirt & SWAG bag, food and refreshments at rest stops, and access to the Post-Ride Party. Registrations received by April 1st are guaranteed a bike t-shirt will be available in their size on the day of the event.

Friday’s Creek Winery will have an Open House and be selling wine at their rest stop for you to purchase if you choose. All purchases will be transported back to Chesapeake Church for you and can be picked up from Merchandise at the Post-Ride Party.

This event will take place rain or shine, come prepared and ready to ride!

Safety Rules and Guidelines

Your safety is a priority. Please take a moment to look over the bike safety sheet.

  • Obey all traffic laws, including Maryland bicycle laws.
  • Ride single file as required by law. You may get ticketed!
  • All riders are required to wear a ANSI/SNELL/CPSC approved helmet.
  • Please be courteous to other participants and vehicles sharing the road with you.
  • This ride is not recommended for children under 14 years old.
  • Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have the consent of a parent or guardian to participate in the event.
  • All minors must be under adult supervision at all times.

First aid is available in mobile units along the route and at rest stops. These units have access to local emergency services. Please carry your cell phone with an emergency contact programmed into it or carry an emergency contact card.

Bike repair services will be located at the start/finish area (fee may apply). SAG Support will also be available during the ride.

Post Ride Party

This will be a great celebration for completing the bike ride with free food, live music and community. Rita’s Ice in Dunkirk & GROW Yoga in North Beach will be back again at the Post-Ride Party, and new this year we will have a Yoga Class, so bring your mats! There will also be raffle items donated from Anne Arundel Dermatology, Bike Doctor & Panera Bread. Join us from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at Summit Park behind Chesapeake Church.

2018 Bike Ride Volunteers

Volunteers are what make this event happen. We appreciate your desire to make our 10th Annual Bike Ride on April 28th a success! Below are tabs with descriptions of our volunteer opportunities. Each opportunity will have the following Time Frames listed next to it:

Pre-Event Opportunities 

Rest Stop Prep Team
Sort food and supplies that will be distributed to rest stops throughout the ride. Help us sort and stock the rest stops with goodies!
Minimum Age: 10 with adult
Time Frame: Tuesday 4/3, 6PM-8PM @ End Hunger Warehouse

SWAG Prep Team
Come get SWAG (stands for: Stuff We All Get) bags ready for our cyclists to receive on event-day!
Minimum Age: 10 with adult
Time Frame: Thursday 4/19, 6PM – 8PM @ End Hunger Warehouse

Route Marking Team
Make the route visible and safe for our participants by driving the route and marking the roads.
Minimum Age: 18 with valid Driver’s License
Time Frame: Week of Event, Morning-Afternoon

Event Set-Up Team
Set-up tables, tents, and more to prepare for event-day.
Minimum Age: 12 with adult
Time Frame: Thursday 4/26 All Day, Friday Morning – Afternoon

Merchandise Prep Team
Organize pre-purchased Merchandise so everything is ready for pick-up on Saturday morning.
Minimum Age: 14

Early Check-in Team
Greet, inform and check-in cyclists who have pre-registered for the ride.

Care Prep Team
Prepare food trays and drinks ahead of time, so we’re ready to serve bright and early Saturday morning.

Admin Team
Organize and record Registration paperwork.

Balloon Team
Cover the Chesapeake Church campus in balloons to add pizzazz to the event-day festivities!

Care Team
Care for our cyclists and volunteers by providing them with delicious food and drinks.

Check-In Team

Clean-up Crew
Many hands make light work! Break-down the event and return the Chesapeake Church campus to pristine pre-event condition.

Facilities Team
Maintain the cleanliness of Chesapeake’s campus to ensure an excellent guest experience.
Minimum Age: 10 with adult

Merchandise Team
Interact with cyclists as they peruse and purchase End Hunger merchandise.

Photo/Video Team
Capture the excitement of the day through photo and video. Must have previous photo/video experience and own professional-quality equipment.
Minimum Age: 16

Rest Stop Support
Provide food, drink and a positive experience for participants when they stop at one of our rest stops.
Minimum Age: 10 with adult

SAG (Support and Gear) Driver
Come to the rescue when someone is fatigued, has a flat tire or needs a ride back to campus. (Must have a basic knowledge of bike care – how to change a bike tire, etc.)
Minimum Age: 21 with valid Driver’s License
Time Frame: Early Morning, Morning, or Afternoon

Same-Day Registration Team
Greet, inform and register our walk-in guests.
Minimum Age: 18
Time Frame: Early Morning – Morning

Shuttle Driver
Our awesome volunteers care for participants by parking off-campus. Serve our volunteers by giving them a ride to and from Chesapeake Church.
Minimum Age: 21 with valid Driver’s License

Traffic Safety Team
Welcome, direct, and making room for each of our guests on event day.
Minimum Age: 16
Time Frame: Early Morning

Volunteer Childcare Team
Care for our volunteers by caring for their children! This is a great opportunity to serve and have your children with you.

NOTE: Each youth volunteer must have an adult serving directly alongside them.
