About the Warehouse
The New Warehouse, located in Huntingtown, MD, will allow End Hunger to continue to serve as a Regional Distribution Center for The Maryland Food Bank, ensuring that a consistent food supply remains in our county for our 52 partner feeding organizations. The support of our community has made this project possible. This new facility will help us meet the increasing needs of our neighbors in Southern Maryland.
First Floor
Holds the food distribution space where we will facilitate distributing food and personal items to our feeding partners and organizations who can then get it to the families who need it most.
Second Floor
Provides a home for the Culinary Program of End Hunger. The second floor will have the kitchen and classroom space needed to support these students as they work toward their goals in employment.
Third Floor
Serves as a resource center for other nonprofits and will have collaborative meeting spaces available for community use. The third floor will also have a terrace for outdoor events catered by the Culinary Program.
Construction of the building is ongoing. Site work at the Warehouse is currently taking place to finish the parking lot and landscaping. Following the completion of the first floor of the building, construction will begin for the second and third floors. The new End Hunger Warehouse will have a greater capacity to meet the needs of the Southern Maryland community.
The Need is Real
Phil and Ashley* have 5 young children. Child care has become increasingly more expensive, so Ashley stays at home while Phil works full time. Money is tight between paying the mortgage bill and utilities. The food they receive from a local food pantry allows them to put nutritious meals on the table for their kids. When you support End Hunger, you are supporting parents like Phil and Ashley.

Products and Resources
The first floor of the Warehouse serves as a Regional Distribution Center for the Maryland Food Bank. This space will have the capacity to hold a variety of products and resources that will go right to the people in Southern Maryland who need it most.
Shelf Stable Food
These items are critical for families struggling with food insecurity because it allows them to carry products for a while and ensure it won’t go bad in the times they need it most.
Fresh Produce
Fresh produce is an important item to distribute whenever possible. Local farms also partner with us to donate excess fresh produce to ensure nothing goes to waste.
Holiday Meals
Every family deserves to feel normal around the holidays, spending time with family and friends in their homes. We distribute holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas including turkeys and all the traditional fixings.
Household Goods
When families are forced to make impossible financial choices, that spills into household items too. Whenever we can, we provide items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and baby products such as diapers and formula.
Backpack Programs
Over 3,000 children in Calvert County are on the free and reduced meal program, which means a majority of their meals are had at school. We are helping close the gap on food insecurity through the Heart F.E.L.T. backpack program where kids who qualify for free and reduced meals can take home a backpack full of food to their families for the weekend.
Our Partners
End Hunger In Calvert County has partnered with the Maryland Food Bank to serve as a Regional Distribution Center. With their partnership, we can distribute food and household products to 52 feeding organizations across Southern Maryland, which are then able to feed and serve the families who need it most.
The Warehouse is supported by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of multiple awards totaling $2,498,000 in federal funds. These federal funds account for 27 percent of the total project, with the other 73 percent financed from non-governmental sources. On December 23, 2022, Congress voted to send the Fiscal Year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Bill (FY23 Omnibus) to the President, which was signed into law by the President as the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 (Appropriations Act). The legislation included $1,133,000 in earmark funding for End Hunger’s Warehouse and $300,000 in earmark funding for the Culinary Program, referenced as the End Hunger Community Economic Development Project and the Pre-Apprentice Skills Program in the Appropriations Act.
